EPCOR: Using geo-spatial & real-time data to create situational awareness
Together, EPCOR and Kvale Informatics Consulting combined the Power of Now with the Science of Where to provide enhanced troubleshooting capabilities for Edmonton s water and waste water infrastructure. Real-time storm events and water system infrastructure issues can be observed in their geo-spatial context and appropriate responses can be made through the use of real-time data from AVEVA PI System integrated with Esri dashboards. This combined solution provides a consolidated data platform for multiple teams to use when collaborating on trouble events impacting their water system infrastructure and expedite resolution times.

Ian Rivett
Ian Rivett is a Senior Project Engineer with Kvale Informatics Consulting, both an AVEVA PI Partner and an Esri Partner. He has worked with PI Systems and data projects as an engineer for over 14 years, with clients in oil & gas, pipelines, utilities, and construction industries. With many projects early in his career, the focus has been on taking real time data beyond local control systems and making that data available to the entire business to enhance analysis and make informed business decisions. However, with recent advances in system integration, projects have begun taking this data availability to the next level by integrating with ArcGIS systems to add geo spatial context to that real time data. Ian has now led multiple projects combining PI and Esri technologies for business solutions, including working with EPCOR Utilities on their Stormwater Integrated Resource Plan (SIRP). Outside of business hours, Ian enjoys quiet times with his wife and two young daughters.
