Using the PI System to Model and Monitor World Class Oil and Gas Assets
Marathon Oil Corporation has worked with OSIsoft software and partners SAIC and Industrial Evolution to build an Enterprise Historian used to model and monitor oil and gas Assets in the U.S., Norway, and Equatorial Guinea (West Africa). This presentation will feature recent work at Marathon Equatorial Guinea Production Limited, with data from the Alba Field off the coast of West Africa; the Droshky system, a new major asset in the Gulf of Mexico that involved integration with a new sub-sea control system ; and a recent Proof of Concept that provides a Well Diagnostic tool for onshore plunger lift wells in the MIMMS Creek field in East Texas.

Ken Startz is currently a Project Manager for Marathon Oil Corporation, Upstream Client Services, located in the Houston Corporate office. Ken has 31 years of experience with Marathon, in Upstream, Corporate, and Downstream support. Ken has worked for Marathon in 4 countries, including Gabon, Ireland, Egypt, and Equatorial Guinea. Ken’s1st experience with PI systems was in 1988 in the Robinson, IL Refinery, working with LIMS system interfaces. He holds a BS in Systems Analysis from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.
